In other news:
- The new Portishead album Third is reallllly good. Check it out. If you don't know Portishead also check out 1994's Dummy. The best trip-hop i have ever heard. Here is a live cut of "Hunter"
- Gnarls Barkley released their new album The Odd Couple online. For free. BACKWARDS! It is actually even a bit too weird for me but you should check it out here.
- The Age of Understatement, the album by the Last Shadow Puppets (who are fronted by Arctic Money Alex Turner), has been released everywhere but the US. But I'm sure you can find it if you look hard enough (or search in shady enough places). expect a review soon. Here is the title track:
- A Tribe Called Quest is back doing the Rock The Bells Tour. Other acts include Nas, Mos Def, Raekwon+Ghostface, Meth+Red, The Pharcyde and The Cool Kids:
- Coachella is this weekend. It marks the beginning of an oversaturated festival season. There has been a recent swell in the number of festivals in the US. Its got pros and cons. On the pros there is now a major festival in almost every region of the country this summer. Its nice cause travel is not as hard. But this also takes away from festivals being special. I mean, other than for a few acts(This weekend those include Prince, Aphex Twin, Portishead and The Verve) its basically the same artists doing the festival circuit. What do you think?
